Meeting Minutes from 5/30/2012

Next Meeting: Wednesday, June 27th - 6:30pm Meeting at Maker Works
Next Sew-In: Sunday - June 10th from 12-4pm (moved to the 10th to avoid a conflict with Fathers' Day)

What to bring for the next meeting: The Yankee Swap for the June meeting is to bring three fat quarters of fabric inspired by "Mad Men" (late 1950s / early to mid 1960s era).

Old Business:
Quilt Market was attended by several of our members.  It was deemed fun, if not a little over-whelming.

The MakerWorks Open House was attended by Debbie and Brenda and there were several people showing interest in our guild.
QuiltCon just got a little more awesome - our own Debbie is going to instruct a couple of workshops!
  • If you would like to make blocks for the QuiltCon Quilt Block Challenge, please bring them to the July Meeting and we will mail a box of them as a guild.
  • We agreed as a guild to volunteer to construct a charity quilt out of the extra blocks made for the QuiltCon Block Challenge.
  •  If you would like to attend Quilt Con, Brenda has reserved two rooms and may have space for you.
The Sewing Retreat is a go!  August 10 - 12.  More details HERE.

The idea of selling quilts at the Artisan Market as a guild is not fleshing out.  An idea was tossed around to find a venue for a formal-ish Sale/Showcase of our guild projects, perhaps in the fall of 2012.  Jenna is researching possible locations.

New Business:
The Columbus Modern Quilt Guild is working to organize a MidWest Modern Quilting Retreat.  They are looking at hosting the event in March of 2013.   If you are interested in joining the organizational committee, please contact Brenda - justabitfrayed(At)gmail.com

Hope to see everyone at the sew-in!
