A2MQG Meeting Minutes - July 2025

 July 2025

The meeting was held at Maker Works on July 30th with 23 members and 2 guests in attendance. We had 2 members join us on Zoom.

  • Longarm Possibilities:  Maker Works made a short presentation on how they are adding a longarm to their collection of machines available to rent.  The machine is a Bernina Q20.  As with all their machines, users will need to take a check-out class on how to use the machine.  You can either become a MW member or can get day passes.  Check out the MW website for more information : https://www.maker-works.com/
  • MQG Community Outreach Quilt 2026 - sign-ups have gone out for the MQG project.  If you would like to participate but didn't get to sign up, please contact Dorie or Rossie.
  • Programs 
    • 10 members participated in the Dye Day at Rossie's last month and many shared what they made/dyed.
    • We are looking into a bag making class for the latter part of the year - more to come on that.
  • Swaps/Challenges
    • Our next challenge is a "self portrait challenge".  Bring your creativity to the fore and take this opportunity to show us what you love or what makes you "you". This challenge is due at the September meeting.
  • Skill Share - Kathy Klinich presented on how she designs quilts using Illustrator and/or Inkscape computer programs.
  • Member Spotlight - Deb Spring shared how she got started in quilting (her path was through art).
  • Quilt Shows
  • Gerald R Ford Library show this coming winter - signups will start at the next meeting. (Chair : Tara)
  • Sutherland-Wilson Farmstead in Pittsfield Township summer 2026.  We have been invited back for next year and we have started a committee.

A2MQG Meeting Minutes - June 2025

June 2025

The meeting was held at Maker Works on June 25th with 26 people in attendance and 2 on Zoom! 

Events: 

- The Liberty of London fabric was cut! There's still some left! Check your email for an order form.

Round Robin: Want to get involved? Just bring a bag with fabric and some instructions (as specific or non-specific as you like!) and cut on in! It's never too late to join our Round Robin fun! Check our guidelines to see how it works!

Swaps/Challenges:  Try a new skill challenge! Many people had wonderful things to share that they tried for the first time!! Thank you everyone for trying new things!

CharityContinue to get those charity quilts to Carol and peruse our collection of kits to take home and put together, or make your own! 

Also, we discussed the community outreach quilt! We will be changing the color palette to the blue palette!

Demonstration/Skill Share:  Amy showed us how to use soy wax to dye batiks! Super interesting, thank you Amy!

Show and Share:  The Board would like to ask members to limit (if possible) the number of show and shares to no more than 2 quilts. We want to see your work! Don't forget to bring those finishes (and WIPs!) to show off to your quilty pals! Check out all our great shares on Instagram!!

- The Ann Arbor District Library paper piecing event was a great success! There were 15-20 people and 7 guild members! Great job everyone!

The meeting was held at Maker Works on February 26th with 28 people in attendance and 5 on Zoom! 

Quiltcon: Some members went to QuiltCon and had a great time! They did make and takes, attended lectures, and saw some beautiful quilts!

Events: 

- The Ann Arbor library will be hosting an English Paper piecing class on April 9th from 6-7:30pm! Signups for helping coming soon!

- The Liberty of London fabric was cut! There's still some left! Check your email for an order form.

Swaps/Challenges:  Modern block raffle! We had so many blocks made!! Thanks to everyone for participating!
